What is the Best Time to Raft on the Chattooga?

Family ready to raft in Chattooga river
Here’s the bad news: the rafting season doesn’t last all around the year. Now, here’s the good news: you can raft at any time between March to October, which means that you can experience Chattooga in the colors of spring, summer, and fall. While all of these months are the best time to raft, your adventure may vary according to when you arrive.

You see, since Chattooga is a free-flowing river, rainfall may impact the water levels. During spring and early summer, the water levels are high, so be prepared to get drenched. However, during the late summer and fall months, the water levels drop which means exposed rocks and a fun bumpy ride. So, plan your trip accordingly!

What Should I Bring Along on My Trip?

If you plan on joining us for an overnight rafting trip, make sure you pack in some toiletries, a sleeping bag, flashlights, etc. for a comfortable stay. Need a proper list of what comes with you and what doesn’t? Feel free to go through our packing checklist for hassle-free preparation.
